Phoenix: Is it Really Home

What a dreadful day yesterday was! Charlie woke us up, threw us in the car without even a walk, and headed off on one of those long rides. I tried to sleep between stops, but there was a lot of luggage under the trunk where I usually hide.

We were in the car forever! And not just because I live in the present. It’s 825 miles home. We didn’t get there until 8:30 PM.  When I hit the house I was so thirsty I drank a whole bowl of water. I wasn’t even hungry, so I played with my biscuit and carried it around in my teeth until it was time to go to bed.
But when we woke up in the morning, Mommis put us on our leashes and took us right out around the neighborhood for a walk. We couldn’t go off like we do in California, but we got to smell all the other dogs and see the kids going to school.  We were good, too, on the coupler, until I saw these two cats in some woman’s front yard.
I couldn’t resist.  Me and Chauncey collaborated and pulled away from Mommis.  It’s tough going anywhere on the coupler, so we couldn’t catch the cats, but the woman came out her front door in her nightgown because Mommis was running after us through her fro

nt yard.
Maybe Mommis was mad at us after that, because she took us immediately to Smelly Dog and dropped us off to get baths.
Then she didn’t pick us up forever.
Then she picked us up and brought us home and finally fed us the food we were really used to from before.
So now I really feel like I’m home. I’m sleeping on the bed next to Mommis, which is my favorite place.
