Dawn Dogs: Portraits of My Pack

Every morning at dawn, I drive with Mommis and Bruce (BooBoo) and Sammy in the car. Sammy does not like the car, but he will run out to go with Mommis because he knows what’s on the other end of this drive. When we get to the park, which I think is called a park because that’s where Mommis parks the car and we get out, there are always a bunch of other dogs there. Mommis has her pack at the park, and I have my pack. Mommis’s pack is very nice and carries the water and the balls. My pack is much more fun.

Leeloo Needs to be Put in Her Place

This morning in the park Leeloo tried to take my water bottle. She’s so aggressive, for a girl. I try to be nice to her, but she doesn’t make it easy. She acts like she’s a boy or something.

Look what I had to do with her! And even then I never did win.

But I can’t help it, I love her so much. In two weeks she leaves me for New Hampshire, and I hope she doesn’t meet anyone there:-(

Training is a Pain in the Tail

So Mommis wants to get me certified as a Service Dog. What if I don’t want to be one?

I guess I don’t get to choose. This morning we went to the Biltmore Fashion Park and Juan met us there. I should have known something was up when I saw him.

Anyway, it was a pain in the tail. “Buppy sit” again and again. Which I learned this morning is NOT the same as down. Usually when Mommis says almost anything I either come or go down depending. But this time every time she said sit and I got down we had a do-over.

Then, when I got that, we practiced stay. I did great on that until the time “stay” meant she was leaving me with Juan to go into the Apple Store.

For 3 entire minutes!!! I only made a minute and a half. Finally, to get her to stop doing this stuff I just went down and refused to do anything else.

I’m so damned tired.

I Heard Something

Every afternoon in our house we have something called dog down time. This is when we all take naps while Mommis works. Today was an especially important dog down time because I spent that weekend having a festival with Lady Leeloo. And because I went to the salon this morning. That’s always tiring. I wonder why humans like it so much.

Anyway, I was just getting comfy on Mommis’s bed while she was writing, but then I heard a noise.

I thought it was dinner being served, but it was a false alarm.
